Late Summer Thoughts

Every time this time of year, I always start plotting for the upcoming fall. In other words, I am a total nerd-a-tron that craves for Fall and all things it involves: new books, old books, highlighters, composition books, orange leaves, burgundy nail polish, leather boots, college sweaters, crisp air and pumpkins.

I love FALL. Man oh Man, I love FALL. Even though I grew up in Southern California where Fall meant 64 degrees and foggy mornings, being Utah for 3 years has made me a true-blue lover of Fall. I remember the very first Fall I experienced while waking up in Helamen Halls, peaking through my blinds and seeing Y-Mount turned a very beautiful yellow with orange spotting. I think I literally squealed with joy.

To this day, Autumn is a beautiful creature that speaks to my little native heart (I am part Wampanoag, you know). Fall whispers her secrets into my little pink ears and crisps up my eyelashes with her cool breeze.

I cannot wait to welcome her return with wind-stung cheeks and cable-knit sweaters. But for now I will enjoy these lazy summer nights filled with otter pops and late mornings.

AND for those of you who wonder about my days of youth when I first met Fall, here are some of my favorites from our glorious introduction:

Good Tunes

Its been awhile since I have done a Post like this, but I don't want you homies to think I stopped listening to my jams. They are still a MAJOR portion of my life. As such: Here is a song that kept me smiling on the trains in Europe.

My sister Is getting Married

I have been naturalized in the USAmerica for perhaps 80 hours or so now, and its time to share some big news: MY SISTER IS GETTIN' HITCHED.

Yup. Jenny Heathcote is a taken woman for forever and all eternity. She was engaged I think a week ago in Sundance, Utah to an adorable, blondie by the name of Andrew.

I am so happy for Jenny, I know she will make the most BEAUTIFUL bride and my mama could not be more tickled-pink to plan the big day- which is coming up in October.

Here's to Jen and Andrew and to my family's excitement! Here's to being back home and showering again! Here's to marriage and finding someone to spend the rest of forever with! Here's to weddings and all things feminine!

So long The Netherlands.

Europe was truly amazing. Ending in The Netherlands only made the experience that much better. The last day we went to a museum called the Kruller-Muller museum which had a huge Modern art sculpture garden! But wait, here's the best part, we all rode bikes to get to it! Ohhh man, I die even now just thinking about it, incredible. And then, after 22 hours of travel, I am was home. I cannot say enough about how much I loved my experience this summer; more importantly how grateful I am.

The Netherlands

It's taken awhile to build up a post that was worthy of posting here. Not because of the Netherlands lacking any beauty, but because Amsterdam is super notorious for theft and I have to keep all my possessions under my clothing at all times and walk really fast everywhere with "purpose" to not attract thieves and dealers...ha. But don't let that get you down, Amsterdam for how "scary" it is, is a really cool city and clean. But besides Amsterdam we have been to Haarlem and the Haag as well. Haarlem is awesome and so quaint! I really loved it. It is also the place where they did the majority of filming "The Best Two Years" so all y'all Mormons can fan-girl over that. I love the Dutch, and their grocery stores. The Netherlands have got a really cool vibe and I have found my native land with all the blondes I see here, it's nice to finally blend in!

Let's talk Belgium.

Let me make a list of things.
-I am back to the states in 8 days
-I have been in Belgium for a week
-I have eaten waffles for days on end
-I wear the same sweatshirt/wind breaker combo all day, everyday
-I eat probably around a pound of chocolate a day
-every city in Belgium is perfect
-I finally had a true tranny reunion with my pal Eric in Brugge, and it was filled with trolls and laughter.
-I SAW THE NORDIC SEA. I repeat, I went to the beach in Belgium and saw the NORDIC SEA.
-I smell of chocolate, baby powder and sweat and rain all the time.
-I have a sore throat, so I use that as a crutch to drink hot chocolate all the time.
-there are swans everywhere here, and they terrify me.

Brussels and Antwerp.

After the most marvelous train ride out of Luxembourg to Belgium, we ended up in Brussels. I know I say this all the time, but Brussels is truly magical, but in a real way. Meaning, it is a place that is so beautiful and monumental, but it feels like a real place that real people live. In other words, I want to live there. And it also is a place dripping in Art Nouveau design and architecture, which is my absolute favorite. So basically, I just stood in front of buildings and would deeply breath them in. I loved it. Now I am in Antwerp, and it's pretty chill. I had a magnum bar tonight. It was awesome. Tomorrow in Bruges will be awesome I am sure of it!
